Event Outline

The 2012 Governor’s Giant Vision Student Business Awards Competition
(Sponsored by Governor Dennis Daugaard and Citibank, Sioux Falls.)

1.) Online entries must be finalized and submitted no later than midnight (CST), Friday, February 24, 2012.

2.) Independent panel of judges will review applications and select eight qualifying entrants who will compete in Sioux Falls.

3.) Qualifying entrants will receive an invitation to compete around March 16. Non-qualifiers will also be notified of their status.

4.) On the day of the event, all qualifiers will be provided with table space at the Best Western Ramkota in Sioux Falls. Skirted tables will be provided for your prototype, poster display or other materials. Note: Displays are a secondary component and qualifiers should focus on knowing their business plan as a priority of preparation.

5.) Qualifiers will make individual presentations to the panel of judges. Following this time, judges will visit each display to further review and discuss the idea.

6.) Qualifiers will be required to prepare a 160-word "Elevator Talk" in which you sum up your business plan and concisely explain why someone would be interested. Elevator Talks will be recorded the day of competition.

7.) Entrants will have the opportunity to visit with established business leaders during the luncheon which will feature a presentation by a successful start up business owner.
