A survey was sent to all past entrants of the Governor’s Giant Vision Program. The responses came from individuals who actually competed in the event and from those who did not make the first cut. Here just a few of the reports of student participants.
Alex Edwards, Alxco, LLC, Rapid City
Business did not reach the start up stage.
Progress since awards program: There has been no progress since the competition. I have changed career paths by applying to become a Little Caesars Franchise. The “shockpeg” still remains in my mind and other future ATV components that I possibly might develop in the future.
Lesson learned: It almost seems that today it doesn’t matter what you know, but who you know. The experience overall was outstanding and I wish the best of luck to everyone that qualifies in the years to come. Thank you!
Eric Hesla, Pro Mags, Vermillion
Business did reach the start up stage and has progressed to more advance steps. Pro Mags is continuing to do R & D along with testing of our agricultural planter gauge wheel.
Progress since program: We have recently completed testing on a new improvement to our system and are working to find a prototype development partner to finalize this design.
What’s next? Finding a source of capital to speed up final development of a market ready system. We are currently hoping to meet with Masaba in Vermilion on scraper development.
Most important contact/lesson: Meeting Bill Shorma at the competition. Shur-Co. has helped us get the wheel to the production stage. Lesson? Never quit.
